For three weeks in February 2016 Sara Koller wore a red armband with a white inscription that read “MIGRANT-IN”. An affiliation to an organization was not apparent and no leaflets were distributed. A woman of Swiss appearance wearing an armband with this inscription is irritating and calls for an explanation. The inability to classify or categorize the woman and being left in the void over the meaning of her statement leaves the passer-by with a lasting preoccupation.
On February 28th 2016 the Swiss population voted on a Popular Initiative to automatically deport foreigners who commit certain crimes. The initiative called for the deportation of Migrants even if they only committed minor offences. The initiative was rejected by 58.9% with a voter turnout of 63.1%.
